“I found out I was pregnant 2 days before my 17^th birthday. I was scared and I didn’t know what to do. After I told the baby’s dad, he left and wanted nothing to do with us. My family was pushing for adoption, but that’s not something I wanted to do. I was feeling really trapped and confused. At Alpha, I talked with a great counselor who helped me decide what I wanted to do, not what everyone else wanted. She also helped me figure out what I had to do to accomplish my goals. “I just wanted to write a quick letter to thank-you. I was going through some old things and read something I wrote…When I was 15 years old I found out I was pregnant at the center. What I wrote was, the lady there, hugged me she had her arms around me…and I just cried and cried. I still remember how much comfort the lady brought to me. I never went back to the center so you never had follow up on me. Now that I am volunteering at a center myself, I thought you might enjoy hearing from me. I am now 27 years old, and my son, is almost 12!!! My parents had a really hard time during my pregnancy, and tried to force abortion upon me. My parents took me for an abortion and I stood up to them and didn’t abort, they threatened a lot of terrible stuff if I didn’t have the abortion, but with your help, I had my son, graduated high school early, became a nurse, bought a place at 20, got married, found God, and also have a beautiful 2 yr old girl. “We fell behind on our rent. We were finally able to move into a decent home and did not want to be forced to leave. My husband’s income had been hard to count on because he had different hours every month. I was unemployed and couldn’t afford to place both of my kids in daycare in order to get a job. I sent my son to Vacation Bible School and had to pay the full price of $120. I really wanted my son to have that experience. We attend church every week and Christ is extremely important in our lives. Without the financial assistance we were able to get through Alpha, we would have lost our home, and who knows what else.
